Mrs. C. A. Paisley Passes Away. Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. C. A. Paisley, 51, resident of Lusk for the past three years, and for many years a resident of this county, died Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Lusk Hospital, following a short illness of but two days. Her sudden death came as a shock to members of her family and friends. The cause or her death was gas gangrene.
Mrs. Paisley was taken ill last Friday and Sunday morning was removed to the hospital, where every effort was made to save her life.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the Peet Mortuary, with Rev. Stuart Anderson, supply pastor of the local Congregational Church, officiating.
Mrs. H. J. Templeton, Mrs. Edna Howard DeCastro, Mrs. C.E. Marvin and Mrs. J. P. Watson sang "Asleep in Jesus," "Rock of Ages" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The quartet was accompanied by Miss Alice Fowler.
Pallbearers were James Bentley, Al Buibault, Charles Scace, Harry Hargraves, Ed Stigile and Ira Teter. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery.
Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Snyder, Menlo Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Symoursen and Mrs. George Shearer, all of Newcastle.
Bertha Hitz Paisley was born on November 19, 1882, in Germany, being one of a family of eleven children. She was 51 years, 8 months and three days old at the time of death. Preceding her in death are her father and mother, Herman and Maria Hitz, and two sisters, Agnes Mauch Edwards and Elsie Hammer.
She became affiliated with the Christian faith at Winfield, Iowa, where she became a devout member of the United Presbyterian Church.
On June 30, 1913, she was united in marriage to C. A. Paisley and to this union were born four children.
She is survived by her husband. C. A. Paisley; four children, Chalton Herman, Ida Ruthaphine, Gloria May and William Calvin; two stepchildren, Don Paisley and Mrs. Jessie Wylie; four brothers, Ewald, William, Herman and Walter Hitz all of Lusk; four sisters, Miss Minnie Hitz of Lusk; Mrs. S. E. Snyder of Newcastle, and Mrs. O. L. Chard and Mrs. E. H. Himes, both of Hat Creek.
