Obituary

Little Alice Joan Wendt was born at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Siekert in Lusk, December 14, 1934 and departed this life, April 12, 1935 at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Wendt in Crawford, Nebr., a sufferer of cerebral Spinal Meningitis.

She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. John Wendt of Belmont, Nebr., and lived only four months, just long enough to bring much sunshine into the hearts of all those who knew her with her sunny dispostion and ready smile for everyone.

In February, she contacted the epidemic of cold or flu, then prevalent, with a complication of absess in both ears, where the doctors believe the fatal germ developed and eventually caused her death.

She was in an unconscious condition for the last 12 days of her life and all that could be done by human skill was exercised in the effort to save her, but God knows best, and we can but believe she was only loaned to us for a little while, to bring the love, joy and enrichment to our lives that such a sweet, patient little child always brings, and now he has eased her suffering and taken her home to be a beckoning light.

She leaves to mourn, besides her parents and grandparents, two great grandmothers, Mrs. Alice Hamaker of Belmont, Nebr., Mrs. Anna Siekert of Chadron, Nebr., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A quarantine funeral was held Sunday at 10:00 a.m., with only a few relatives attending. She was buried in the family plot in Evergreen cemetery, Belmont, Nebr., with Rev. Underwood of Marsland officiating.
