Paul Richard Atchison
Paul Richard Atchison, 66, of Blacksburg, Va. was called to his eternal rest at Montgomery Regional Hospital, Sunday May 4, 2008 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
At his request his ashes will be scattered in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which he dearly loved.
Paul was born July 18, 1941 on the Burk farm just north of Chadron, Neb. He was raised on the Atchison ranch northwest of Harrison, Neb. He graduated from Sioux County High in 1959 and spent eight years in the Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He became a life-long master gardener and was co-owner of Clean & Green Technologies of Christiansburg, Va. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He married Karen Miller in 1963. He married Flora "Pat" Maxton in 1972. He is survived by his wife Pat of 36 years, children Paul Jr. of Ca., Christina of Okla., Wade of Fla. and Leanne of Iowa, Deborah Mauricio, Jacob Gates, both of Blacksburg, Va. and Patrick Harvey of Willis, Va., sister Loretta Wilkison of Lusk, Wy and brother Darrel Atchison of Scottsbluff, Neb. Fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents George and Leone Atchison of Harrison, Neb.
