Tara J. Wasson

A Celebration of Life for Tara J. Wasson, age 16, will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the NCHS Auditorium in Lusk with Rev. Patrick Shea and Rev. Phil Stombaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Tara died Sunday, September 27, 1998, in an automobile accident north of Lusk. She was born March 16, 1982, in Lusk to Brad and Roxie (Miller) Wasson.

Tara attended school in Lusk and at the time was a member of the junior class of NCHS. She was active in volleyball, basketball, choir and was an honor roll student. Tara enjoyed being with her friends and listening to music.

Survivors include her parents. Brad and Roxie Wasson of Lusk; a brother, Jeremy Wasson and his daughter, Shelby of Casper; a brother, Cory Wasson of Chadron; paternal grandparents, Stan and Shirley Wasson of Lusk; maternal grandfather, John Miller of Lusk; maternal grandmother, Wanda and PaPa Phil Brewster of Lusk; uncle and aunt Mike and Angela Wasson and children, Kayla, Kyle and Kade of Gillette: uncle and aunt Kirk and Laurie Wasson and son, Logan of Gillette; uncle Cody Miller of Cottonwood, Arizona; aunt Pam Miller of Casper, aunt Vicky Ochlert of Craig, Colorado and son, Shawn of Gillette; aunt Nicky Miller and son, Kolter of Gillette; plus numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.

For those who wish, memorials to the Jeremy Wasson Medical Fund will be appreciated by the family.

Bader Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.


Two local teens fatally injured in one-car rollover accident

Tara Wasson, 16, and Leslie Jergenson, 17, were killed in a one-car rollover Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.

According to Niobrara County Sheriff's office spokesperson, Wasson was driving westbound on County Road 14-69 when she lost control of the vehicle on a hill. The car skidded off the south side of the road and went through a right-of-way fence.

The car rolled three times, coming to rest on its wheels.

Although both girls were wearing seatbelts, Wasson was ejected from the vehicle.

Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. The Niobrara County Sherriff's office is in charge of the investigation with assistance from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The Lusk Police Department, Niobrara County Ambulance Service and Lusk Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
