Juanita L. "Nita" (nee Cork) Haines

Juanita L. "Nita" (nee Cork) Haines, loving and caring wife and mother, died June 3, 1996, in Pueblo, Colo.

Survivors include husband Charles E. "Chuck" Haines of Pueblo, daughter Traci Lea Rodriquez, and her dearly loved son-in-law, Rence Rodriquez, both of Pueblo West, Colo. She was preceded in death by parents Meigs Lionel and Orletha Cork. She was born December 29, 1934, in Edgemont, S. D. She attended all her formative school years in Lusk.

She excelled in music and voice and turned down a scholarship to a music and voice school to pursue a lifelong goal of becoming a nurse. While in school, she was popular and active in plays and loved to play the clarinet.

She sang at numerous weddings and touched the lives of many. She married Chuck June 2, 1956. She graduated from the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Denver in December of 1956 and devoted her life to caring for her family and touched the lives of many during her 35 years as a nurse. She helped establish the Family Practice Program Home in Pueblo. In 1964 she worked for the Ft. Logan Mental Health Center in Denver and later for Southern Colorado Clinic in Pueblo for many years, as well as various other doctor offices. She later worked for the Colorado Foundation of Medical Care until health problems forced her to retire in 1992.

At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation will be at Montgomery & Steward Chapel. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 N. Main, Pueblo, with the Rev. Jon Winans, officiating. Following the service the family will greet friends in the funeral home reception area. The family respectfully requests the omission of food. Those who desire may make memorials to the Pueblo County Easter Seals, through the funeral home office. Montgomery and Steward Funeral Directors, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
