Dorothy Bernadine Intveen Bowman

Dorothy Bernadine Intveen Bowman passed away on July 28, 2000 at Serenity Ranch in Oakley, Utah. She was 86 years old.

Born on March 15, 1914 to William and Amanda Intveen in Lusk, Wyoming, Dorothy grew up on the high plains along the eastern slope of the Continental Divide.

While attending Lusk High School, she met her lifelong friend and companion, Lloyd Bowman. They married on September 21, 1936, and were together for over 62 years. After attending Colorado Women's College in Denver, Dorothy worked at a title and abstracting firm in Casper, Wyoming.

Upon Lloyd's retirement from the Bureau of Reclamation, they moved from Casper to Escondido, California where they lived for 24 years between travels around North America. She was half of a marriage that inspired everyone who knew them, especially their daughter and grandchildren. Dorothy was half of an institution that made a family whole.

Dorothy's life spanned this century, beginning in a home built by pioneering parents in Niobrara County and ending, surrounded by family, in a modern retirement community not far from the Wyoming prairie.

Her flinty determination, quick wit and unstinting love for her family and friends will be missed.

Dorothy will be buried this fall, at her request, in Lusk, Wyoming, next to her husband and friend, Lloyd.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Bowman Haack, 59, of Park City, Utah; and her grandsons, Matthew William Klingle, 33, of Seattle, Washington, and David Bruce Klingle, 29, of Berkeley, California.
