Clinton P. Barnes
Clinton P. Barnes, a native of Harrison, Neb., died in a Gering, Neb. nursing home Monday, on his 72nd birthday.
Mr. Barnes was born May 27, 1913, on the ranch of his parents, Paul and Sarah Barnes, north of Harrison. He attended country schools near Harrison and was graduated from Sioux county High School in 1933.
He married Margaret Martin October 26, 1939, in Gering. The couple made their home in Harrison until moving in 1942 to Cheyenne, where he was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1956 the couple moved to California, where he was a carpenter for many years. He later moved to Minot, N.D. to live with a foster daughter and then to several communities in eastern Nebraska before settling in Gering in 1982.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah of Crawford, Neb.; two foster sons, Kenny Keating of Tufton, Calif. and Ronnie Keating of Casper; two foster daughters, Janet Sue Farr of Antoch, Calif., and Susie Trupinat of Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Frances Wagnon of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Hutchinson of Oak, Neb.; and two brothers, Jackson of Omaha, Neb., and Fay of Kelseyville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Harrison Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeff Thurman will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery. Memorials may be directed in the community rescue unit of the donor's choice or the Harrison Methodist Church.
