J.B. "Duke" Rabe

J.B. "Duke" Rabe of Harrison died February 10, 1988 at the Chadron Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was born in Pievna, MT, the son of William and Elizabeth Rabe. On December 22, 1945 he married Elaine Grote. They lived in Leavenworth, KS and the Torrington, Wy area before moving to Harrison, NE in 1961. He ranched and trained horses in Sioux County until his death.

He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, VFW and the American Legion. He donated his time to the FFA slave auction and the VFW calcutta, and was the announcer for the County Fair Parade for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Robyn Heckert of Lusk and Ronda Hasenauer and son-in-law John Hasenauer of North Platte, NE; three sisters, Emma Parsons of Torrington, Wanda Thielen of Miles City, MT and Betty Grieve and husband Fred of Havre, MT and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

A memorial has been established to the VFW and the Harrison Ambulance Fund.
