We are sorry to state that death has again visited the home of Sam Porter, this time the wife and mother being called away. Mrs. Porter had been ill for several weeks and it might be said she gave up her life for her children, having nursed four of her children and her husband through that terrible disease, typhoid fever. Deceased was a woman of noble character, a loving wife and mother and the sympathy of the community goes out to Mr. Porter and the four children who are left behind to mourn their great loss. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church this morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Nellor, after which the remains were laid to rest beside her little daugther who preceded her a few weeks ago.

Mrs. Ada Porter died at her home on Indian creek Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1900, after a short illness, occasioned by quick consumption. She had nursed her husband and four children through a siege of typhoid fever and was so completely worn out that it added to the suddenness of her death.
Mrs. Porter was born in Fulton county, Ill., April 7, 1863, and was only 37 years, seven months and 26 days of age when overtaken by death's cold messenger. She was married to Samuel Porter at Council Bluffs, Iowa, January 27, 1883.
She was the mother of five children, two boys and three girls, four of which are still living and mourn the loss of mother. Her little daughter Edith, who was but four and a half years old, and the youngest of the family, died October 11th, 1900, while suffering with an attack of typhoid fever.
She was an active and conscientious Christian, a kind and affectionate wife and mother, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
The funeral took place at Lusk at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 1900, and was in charge of by Rev. C. H. Nellor of the Congregational church. It was attended by a large number of friends, whose sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and children.
