Obituaries - Ann M. Rogers
Mrs. Ann M. Rogers, wife of Bernard Rogers, died March 1st, 1913, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. W. B. Shipley, at Hat Creek, Wyo., aged 68 years, 3 months and 22 days. Mrs. Rogers had been a sufferer for many years, but the final cause of death was paralysis.
She was born Nov. 9, 1844, at Havana, Ills., and it was here that she became the wife of Bernard Rogers. At the early age of seventeen she united with the Methodist church and at 21 graduated from Havana college. In 1881 Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, with their children, came west to Nebraska and fifteen years later, in 1896, they decided to risk their fortunes by a still further movement west, and came to Wyoming, settling first near Manville and later going to Indian creek where they lived until the fall of 1910 when they moved to Lusk. Mrs. Rogers taught school both in the east and also in Wyoming at Careyhurst and other places. She and Mr. Rogers and their children are the kind of citizens whom any locality may well feel proud of, and they are all held in the highest esteem by their many friends.
Mr. Rogers and seven children survive to mourn her loss: Mrs. Minnie B. Childs, of Chicago, Ills; Walter B. Rogers of Giltner, Nebr; Foster Rogers of Laramie, Wyo; and Harry R., Fred, Roy L. Rogers and Mrs. W. B. Shipley all of Lusk.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church of Lusk. Rev. S. Burman Long, pastor, officiating. A large circle of friends and neighbors were present and there were many beautiful floral offerings. A choir rendered appropriate hymns.
Interment was made in Lusk cemetery, the pall-bearers being H. C. Snyder, G. C. Forsythe, P. E. Barber, Harry B. Hargraves, Ed. C. Daley and Hans Gautschi.
