Last Rites Held at V'Tassell For Mrs. Eva Heckert

Mrs. Eva Heckert, a resident of the Van Tassell community for many years passed away at 7:15 o'clock Wednesday evening, April 3rd at the home of her son, Earl and family of this city. The deceased was 69 years of age at the time of passing. Her death was caused from diabetes in which she had suffered from this disease for many years.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church at 2:00 Sunday afternoon, April 7th in Van Tassell. Reverend Millard H. Marshall officiated at the services. The songs "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Rock of Ages" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by Mrs. H. R. Zerbe, Mrs. Anton Larson and Miss Hare. The pallbeareres were H. E. Zerbe, Chas. Parsons, Frank Martin, John Lohr, Bert Hail and William Heckiebeck. Interment was made in the Van Tassell cometery.

Obituary
Mary Eva Esther Stone was born in Crawford County, Ohio, July 24th, 1870 and died at the home of her son, Earl in Lusk, Wyoming on April 3rd, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 10 days.

On December 11th, 1888 she was united in marriage to William H. Heckert at North Robinson, Ohio. To this union eleven children were born, two of which besides her husband preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, seven sons: Charles of St. Paul, Minn.; Earl, Wayne and Ray of Lusk, Wyoming; Walter of Tiro, Ohio; Rollo of Ft. Blisa, Texas, and Harry of Van Tassell, Wyoming and two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Michael of Hillsboro, Oregon and Marie of Van Tassell, Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandhild and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Cole of Crestline, Ohio and Mrs. Elnora Lehman of Kildder, N. Dak. besides many other relatives.

This famiy made thier home in Ohio until the year 1899 when they moved to Illinois. Seven years later they moved to Minnesota and in 1910 they came to Niobrara county and resided on a homestead until 1925 when they moved into Van Tassell, the present family home.
