Frank Wise, 83, Dies at Lander

A former resident of Niobrara County, Frank Wise, 83, passed away at a convalescent home in Lander on July 18th, following a long illness brought on by a paralytic stroke in 1939.

A daughter, Mrs. Ina Kinney, resides in Lusk.

Frank Wise was the son of Adam and Welthy Ann Wise and was born in Charlotteville, Michigan, August 5, 1860. While still an infant his parents moved to Tradonia, New York, but when he was 7 years of age the family decided to move West and settled in Bellplaine, Iowa. Ten years later they located in Seneca, Kansas.

In 1882 he was married to Miss Effie Handy and to this union six children were born, three of which died in early childhood. His son, Walter S. Wise, lives in Riverton, Wyo., and he made his home with his son and family until two years ago when he was taken to the convalescent home, where he has since been cared for.

At the age of 15 years Mr. Wise began learning the blacksmith trade. He was also a mechanic and carpenter and followed these trades until he became ill in 1939.

His wife passed away in 1941 and he has one son, Colonel Wise, whose whereabouts have not been known for many years.

He is also survived by his daughter, Mrs. Ina Kinney of Lusk, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
