Ralph Malter Larson Jr.

Ralph Malter Larson, 82, of Lusk, Wyo., passed away on July 1, 2011 at the Niobrara Life and Health Center with his sister and niece present.

He was born in Lusk Jan.8, 1929, to Ralph Malter and Ina Jewett Larson, the youngest of four children.

He graduated from Lusk High School with the class of 1949. He was drafted into the Army Infantry and served in Japan and Korea at the end of the Korean Conflict. He spent time on the 38th parallel.

He returned to the family ranch after his service. He worked on the ranch, drove a truck hauling materials and livestock, and worked on various ranches. After a ranch related injury, he moved to Hot Springs, SD to be closer to the VA Hospital there. He lived in Hot Springs for seven years before returning to Lusk and the Niobrara Health and Life Center in April of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Warren Larson and sister-in-law Ginny; brother Noal Larson; and brother-in-law Ray Noah.

Malter is survived by his sister Catherine (Katy) Noah of Casper and sister-in-law Evelyn Larson of Lusk. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who were all very important to him; and many friends.

Military Services are planned for July 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the VFW in Lusk or a VA Hospital in your area. Pier Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
