Fern B. Alameda

Fern B. Alameda, 73, a resident of Cheyenne for the past six years, died Aug. 29, 1993, at the home of her daughter near Roswell, N. M. following a short illness.

Mrs. Alameda was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Manville to Bennie and May Baker. She attended schools in Manville and graduated from Douglas High School.

She worked briefly as a telephone operator before receiving her nursing diploma from Mercy Hospital in Denver in 1940.

She then served as a registered nurse in the Rawlins area for many years.

From 1941 to 1979, she was married to L. W. "Buck" Alameda. The couple lived in areas around Rawlins, in northern Arizona and in Kansas.

Mrs. Alameda was a volunteer swimmer with Multiple Sclerosis Swim Group and also worked with Meals on Wheels in Cheyenne.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Allison, Roswell, N.M., Mary Benefield, Mesquite, Nev.; Barbara Rodgers, Casper; son, Glen Alameda, Savery, Wyo.; sister, Billie Nelson, Lance Creek; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alameda was preceded in death by a sister, one brother and a grandchild. Cremation has taken place.
