Wm. Patten Passes Away
Last Saturday morning between the hours of 6 and 7 o'clock at the home of his son, C. J. Patten, occurred the death of William Patten at the age of 65 years. Although rather feeble Mr. Patten was able to be around until about three days before his death. His son had taken him his breakfast about 6 o'clock that morning and returned a few minutes later to find him breathing his last.
Mr. Patten was born in Illinois and came to Iowa with his parents when a small boy where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Elizabeth Flood. To this union were born three children, a boy and two girls, all of whom survive him. They moved to Nebraska about 30 years where the children grew to man- and womanhood and the mother passed away. Since her death the father has lived with his children and came to Wyoming a year or more ago with his son where they located on a claim near Willow and later moved to Manville where Mr. Patten has been engaged in the blacksmithing business.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church where a large number of friends gathered to pay their last sad rites of love and respect. The pall bearers were E. B. Baughn, F. J. Larsen, J. C. Dieleman, E. D. Lamb, N. H. Poisher and S. P. Story. Interment in Dellview cemetery.
