Larry Ernest McDaniel

Larry Ernest McDaniel of Centennial, Colo., passed away Feb. 10, 2012 at home with his wife of 52 years, Kathy, by his side. Larry was born to Otto William “Bud” and Cleo Ernestine Baker August 13, 1939 in Lusk, Wyo. He attended grade school at Lance Creek, Wyoming and graduated from Niobrara County High School. He received his B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Larry began his life long Petroleum Engineering Career with Reed Tool Company as a field Engineer, later becoming a Product Manager, Area Manager, Domestic Sales Manager and International Sales Manager for the company. On retirement from Reed, he worked for Brinkerhoff Drilling Company as an Area Drilling Manager in Denver and later as Vice President of U.S. Drilling Operations for Thomson Drilling, Inc. In 1977, he formed McDaniel Specialty, Inc. an oil field equipment rental company. For the past 28 years he has owned and operated Combined Petroleum Services, Inc.

Larry was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Littleton where he served as a Deacon, Stephen Minister and a member of the Renovation committee. He was a trained, certified Arapahoe County 4-H leader and served on the 4-H Youth Livestock Sale Committee for twenty years. Larry was a member of the Wyoming Chapter of the National Football Foundation and active with the University of Wyoming Cowboy Joe Club and Alumni Association as a fund raiser. He is a Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #33 of Littleton, a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge, Colorado Consistory and El Jebel Shrine.

His professional affiliations included the American Petroleum Institute, American Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors.

Larry was an avid fly fisherman and golfer and enjoyed the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Melody and brother Kent McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Kathy ZumBrunnen McDaniel; daughters, Mardee (Michael “Mad Dog”) Aanonsen of Laramie, Wyo. and Julie (Russell) Branting of Brighton, Colo.; grandchildren, Meghan and Missy Aanonsen and Max and McKenzie Branting; sister, Linda McDaniel of Laramie, Wyo.

Celebration of life, Friday, Feb, 17, 12 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Littleton, 1609 West Littleton Blvd., Littleton, CO 80120. Reception following services. Interment will be in Lusk Cemetery, Lusk, Wyo. at a later date.

Larry E. McDaniel, 72, of Centennial, Colo., passed away Feb. 10, 2012.

He was born to Otto "Bud" and Cleo Baker McDaniel on Aug. 13, 1939, in Lusk, Wyo.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathy ZumBrunnen McDaniel; daughters Mardee (Michael "Mad Dog") Aanonsen and Julie (Russell) Branting; grandchildren Meghan and Missy Aanonsen and Max and McKenzie Branting and his sister Linda McDaniel. Preceded in death by is parents and a daughter Melody.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Lusk Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Kane of the First Presbyterian Church of Littleton officiating.
