Irene Isabell Edwards Hladky
Irene Isabell Edwards Hladky, 90, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Manor.
She was born Oct. 19, 1921 at Gillette, WY, the daughter of Henry Melvin and Daphne Emilie Goerke Edwards. Mrs. Hladky lived her entire childhood in the Gillette and Rozet Wyoming communities. She graduated from Rozet High School in 1940 where she played on the high school basketball team.
On Oct. 22, 1940 she was united in marriage to Howard Hladky in Hardin, MT. They lived in the Sundance and Sheridan Wyoming area. On Sept. 23, 1943 they moved to Kansas to the Hladky farm. They later bought a farm in the Denison area. In January 1950 the family moved to Emmett where Irene resided until she moved to the St. Mary’s Manor in 1997. She was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hladky was preceded in death by her husband Howard on Oct. 16, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Myrtle and a sister Clara May VanBuskirk along with two great-grandsons.
Survivors include two sons, Merle (Joyce) Hladky and Gregory (Ann) Hladky, all of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Virginia (Loran) Reiners, St. Mary’s and Jeraldine (Allen) Hineman, Lusk, Wyo.; three brothers, Charles Edwards, Lander, Wyo., Melvin Edwards, Buffalo, Wyo. and Clyde Edwards, Unger, W. Virginia; a sister Verna (Charles) Martin, Meriden; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
