Henry Jefferson Dupes was born in Ringgold county, Pennsylvania, in the year of our Lord, 1837. He died at the home of his son Newt near Jireh, Niobrara county, Wyoming, May 22nd 1913, aged 76 years, 2 months and 14 days.
On January 20th, 1864 he enlisted in the army, becoming a member of Co. G. 9th Infantry, and served his country for 1 year and 21 days, being honorably discharged on a doctor's certificate for disability.
In 1866 he was married to Miss Mary Jane Barnes and to their union were born 9 children of whom 6 survive - three sons and three daughters. The boys are all residents of Niobrara county, while two fo the daughters live in Nebraska and the other in Idaho.
Mr. Dupes was highly esteemed by his friends and neighbors and his loss will be mourned not only by is devoted wife and children but by a wide circle of friends.
