Former county Resident Dies in Idaho Monday
Earl Freeman, 75, a former resident of Niobrara County, died at his home in New Plymouth, Ida., Monday morning following a stroke of paralysis. He became ill a month ago but after a week in the hospital was able to return home. However, he became steadily weaker until his death Monday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 at New Plymouth.
He was born at Bloomfield, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Freeman. He was married to Miss Hattie Potter and the couple lived for some years at Bonesteel, S.D. In 1910 they moved with their three children to Niobrara County where they homesteaded on the ranch 25 miles north of Lusk now owned by Wayne Dainton. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman moved to New Plymouth in 1939 and have continued to make their home there.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Freeman; a son, Ray Freeman of Node; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Hoge of Lusk and Mrs. Alf Spurling of New Plymouth; nine grandchildren: Pfc. Kenneth Freeman of Ft. Hood, Tex., Donald Freeman of Node, Mrs. Lee Schuyler of Ft. Hood, Tex., Mrs. Norris Mudra, Leroy Wampler and Ernest Wampler of Lusk; Mrs. Dean Bunge of Harrison, Mrs. M.P. Lang of Billings, Mont., and Jim Spurling of New Plymouth; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Ray and a half-brother, Lyle Ludwig, of Lincoln, Neb. One grandson, Philip Purling, died previously.
Those planning to attend the funeral from this vicinity are: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Hoge, Mrs. Bunge, Mrs. Mudra, Leroy Wampler and Frank Potter, a brother of Mrs. Hattie Freeman.
