Sister Mary Aniceta Thomas, 91, of Alliance, NE, died Tuesday, March 24, 1987 at St. Joseph Gerontology Center in Alliance.
Services were Friday, March 27 Chapel in Alliance. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Alliance.
She was born April 17, 1895 at Crawford, NE, the daughter of Charles and Mary Thomas. She was the oldest of 12 children.
She came to St. Agnes Academy as a student in 1911 and entered the convent in Stella Niagara, NY on May 13, 1913. After making vows in June 1916, she served as cook in convents and schools from Stella Niagara, NY to Uniontown, WA. Her longest assignments were in two Indian missions in South Dakota, where she spent 28 years.
She spent some years in retirement at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scottsbluff, NE and Marycrest convent in Denver before coming to St. Joseph Gerontology Center in Alliance in May 1983.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by four sisters, Teresa Johnston of Lusk, Effie Wilder of Crawford, NE, Katherine Konrath of Glenrock and Josephine Pettepiece of Salem, OR; one brother, Bill Thomas of Grand Junction, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
