Oscar York Dies Here Thursday

Oscar A. York, 55, owner and operator of York's Bakery, died last Thursday in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital from lung cancer.

Funeral services were held from the Peet chapel in Lusk, Monday with the Rev. Theodore Foster, rector of St. George's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Mrs. Mary Anne Griffith, Mrs. Joan Berry and Mrs. Idy Bramlet sang, "High Over the Lonely Hills" and "Abide with Me".

Burial was in the Alliance Cemetery with graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Spencer of Alliance and Masonic Rites by the Mullen Lodge, 282.

Pallbearers were: Donald Whiteaker, Harold Gautschi, M. L. Cork, E. L. McKnight, Robert Templeton and Grady Criss.

Honorary pallbearers were: James Barrett, Arthur Dalgarno, Robert Goodwin, Dr. A. W. Paulsen, Dr. R. W. Collins, Melvin Merchen, Dale Fullerton, Francis Rose, Neal Dutton, Lloyd Ginkins Jr., Forrest Harding, Bud Gibson, Percy Miller, Dan Deibler, Bill Bramer, Almond Elliott and John Pearson.

Mr. York was born in Phelps County, Neb., May 7, 1908. He operated a bakery in Mullen, Neb., before coning to Lusk in 1957 when he and Mrs. York purchased the bakery from E. L. McKnight. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge 282, Mullen, Neb., B.P.O. Elks 961, Alliance, and the Lusk Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Zoe; two sons, Dennis C. York of Basalt, Colo. and C. LeRoy Borders of Long View, Wash., one brother, Delmar A. York, of Seattle.
