On February 2, 2015, William Brett Smith lost a courageous battle with melanoma.

Brett was born November 1, 1956 in Lusk, Wyoming to William Henry Smith, Jr. and Kay Lynn Morgan Smith. He graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1975 and began a career in construction work under the tutelage of Alex Miller and Chuck Taylor. He left Lusk for Salt Lake City, Utah and was married to Elaine Land on November 5, 1983 in Burley, Idaho. They became the proud parents of Rebekah Anne on November 16, 1995 while living in Brigham City, Utah. Over the next years, they resided in Fort Collins, Colorado; Kimball, Nebraska; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Reno, Nevada and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania until moving to Israel.

Brett was predeceased by his father; grandfathers, William H. Smith, Sr. and Paul Morgan; grandmother, Betty Morgan Leimser; nephew, Sean Smith and father-in-law, Roy Land. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Rebekah; mother, Kay Smith; brothers, David (Julie) Smith and Bruce (Pam) Smith; grandmother, Hester Smith; mother-in-law, Ardith Land; sisters-in-law, Valerie Gaster and Sharon (Mike) Howa; brother-in-law Brian (Leslie) Land, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice.
