Funeral Services for Pat Whaley 72 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away quietly Sunday morning at his ranch near Greybull, were held Friday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Spencer Hepp officiating. Donations in Pat's memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry or the St. Francis Animal Shelter in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Patrick J. Whaley was born on March 7th, 1943 in Greybull, Wyoming to James and Viola Whaley. He grew up on the family ranch and attended school in Greybull. After high school Pat worked construction until he joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Following an honorable discharge from the military he returned to Wyoming and worked in construction. He was married on November 24, 1967 to Mary Beutler and they were married for 48 years and raised their two children Denise and Michael. Pat attended A & P school in Colorado and returned to Buffalo where he worked for Reimann Oil and later for Coley's Men's Wear. He purchased Beutler's Surplus where he ruled Lobban Street for 22 years. Pat then opened a small engine repair shop at his house and could be found there day and night cleaning and repairing equipment. He loved visiting with his customers and could occupy a good part of their day. Pat thought every piece of equipment should remain looking like new until after the end of its useful life and would not hesitate to tell you as much. Pat was very active as a volunteer firefighter for Johnson County for many years and served as the Johnson County Assistant Fire Warden and was an original member of the Johnson County Rural Health Care Board and continued on that board for 10 years. He was also a member of the Lion's Club for many years and attended the Union Congregational Church.

Pat Loved being a Pa to his grandchildren and loved attending their fairs and events. He was happy giving advice to anyone that would listen, especially his kids. He dearly loved being at home and kept every floor immaculate.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Buffalo; one daughter Denise Baars and her husband Kevin of Lusk, Wyoming; one son Michael Whaley and his wife Laura of Greybull; three sisters, Leabeth Powers and her husband Andy of Virginia, Carol Kincade and her husband Jerry of Oklahoma and Karen Schell and her husband Bill of Oregon; five grandchildren, Chelsea and Kerby Baars and Andi, Wyatt and Josey Whaley. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ione Atwood.
