Pioneer Resident Mary Bump Dies

Mrs. Mary E. Bump, 85, resident of Niobrara County for the past 77 years, died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital last Thursday due to infirmitives of old age.

Funeral services were held Monday from Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart of the Open Bible Church officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was the organist. She accompanied Carol Taylor who sang, "The Mansion Over The Hilltop" and "Safe In The Arms of Jesus."

Pallbearers were: Charles Lund Jr., Ray Taylor, Herbert Sabin, William Speerly, Don Taylor and John Sturman.

Mary E. Anderson was born September 6, 1879 in Marshall County, Iowa the daughter of John and Martha Anderson. The family came to the Wyoming Territory by covered wagon reaching Lusk in 1887. She and Robert Otis Bump were married October 15, 1907 at Sturgis, S. Dak. They ranched five miles east of Lusk until retiring to their home in Lusk several years ago.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Iowa and was affiliated with the Lusk Rebekah Lodge for over 55 years. Mr. Bump died October 6, 1956.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Meda Teter and Mrs. Emma Teter both of Hutchinson, Kans.; one son, Robert Bump of Casper; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Have of Story City, Ia.; many nieces and nephews, among them Gaylord Anderson of Lusk.
