Velma Ann Burns

Funeral services for Velma Ann Burns, 79, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Stoddard Funeral Home, Greeley, Colo. Burial will follow in the Evans Cemetery

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado in her name in care of the Stoddard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burns died Sunday, Oct. 3, at Nunn, Colo. She was born Dec. 25, 1913, at Tilden, Antelope, Neb., daughter of Elmer and Lydia Eva McCormick. Note: Her parents were Elmer Hopkins and Lydia Eva McCormick Hopkins.

Mrs. Burns' family moved to Manville, Wyo. where she grew up and attended schools. She married Russell Burns, March 9, 1932, in Harrison, Neb. The couple moved to Wyoming where they farmed and ranched until moving to the Weld County area in 1950. They owned several small businesses in this area. After her husband's death she opened Velmas Cafe in Nunn, which she ran until her retirement. She moved to Evans after retirement.

Surviving her are three sons, Delmar Burns of Nunn; Ronald Burns of Ft. Lupton; Terry Burns of Kincaid, Kan.; a sister, Mattie Ferris of Colome, S.D.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Delmar Jr. and Patricia and husband, Russell.
