Jessie Cox, 96, Dies; Service Here Monday
Funeral service was held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Peet Chapel for Mrs. Jessie Ann Cox, 96, pioneer Niobrara County resident who died November 8 at the Natrona County Hospital following a length illness.
The service was conducted by Billy J. Breeden with Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, soloist, Mrs. G. L. Pfeifer sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus".
Casket bearers were G. L. Pfeifer, Kenneth Nickerson, Larry Eddy, Lloyd Coleman, Harold Rogers and Floyd Couch. Burial was in the family plot in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox was born October 6, 1877, in Edwards County, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Melissa Crawford.
She married Lemuel P. Cox April 12, 1899, in Stewartville, Ind. The couple came from Indiana to homestead near Keeline in 1909 and resided on this homestead until Mr. Cox's death October 31, 1945.
Mrs. Cox made her home with a daughter in Midwest until entering Paradise Valley Health Care Center, Casper six years ago. Mrs. Cox was a life-long member of the First Christian Church which she joined at the age of 16 at Bethsaida, Ind.
Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Helen Coleman, Springfield Ore. and Mrs. Marjorie Ross of Midwest; four sons, D. B. of Cody, Kenneth of Trout Creek, Mont., Clifford of Lusk and Herman, Casper; a half sister; Nellie Ham, St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
