Leta J. Cox

Leta J. Cox died Sept. 8, 1999, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home. A graveside memorial service was held Sept. 11 at Mount Pleasant cemetery in Cairo, Neb.

Leta Cox was born in Ord, Neb., Sept. 1, 1917, to Guy and Alice Strong. She married Robert Stairs July 3, 1936; the couple had six children. They lived in Callaway and Cairo, Neb., and moved to Grand Island in 1960. Mr. Stairs died in 1961.

Leta married Ervin Cox on Feb. 14, 1970, in Loup City, Neb. They moved to Lusk, Wyoming in 1997.

Leta is survived by her husband Ervin of Lusk; daughters Pat Fowler of Lusk, and Connie Cowles of Des Moines, Iowa; sons Gary Stairs of Alliance, Neb., and Jim Stairs of Boise, Idaho; two adopted children, Mary Coe of Cottage Grove, Minn. and Bill Cox of Grand Island, Neb.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Gerald Strong of Gothenburg, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, three daughters, two brothers, one sister, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Niobrara County Nursing Home, P. O. Box 780, Lusk, WY 82225.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
