Book Discussion Series Announced
Monday, July 28, 2008

Starting in September, Niobrara County Library will host "Living Between Fences," a reading and discussion series in the Wyoming Humanities Council's Reading Wyoming program. The discussion group meets September 3, October 1, November 5 and December 3 at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Participants will read and discuss "House of Sand and Fog" by Andre Dubus, "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson, "Tortilla Curtain" by T.C. Boyle and "The Work of Wolves" by Kent Meyer. These books may consider fences and divisions both in their visible form on the landscape and as metaphors for the barriers that separate us along the lines of race, religion and culture. All of the titles are award winners. This discussion series was developed as part of the "Between Fences" Smithsonian traveling exhibit that toured Wyoming in 2008.

Wayne Deahl, a member of the English faculty at Eastern Wyoming College, returns to lead the discussions.

The program is offered by the Wyoming Humanities Council. Reading Wyoming provides reading and discussion series to nonprofit organizations around the state and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. To register for this program contact the library at 334-3490 or email
