
The Friends of the Library will host their annual Book Sale on Saturday, June 28 beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m. Purchases are by donation and everything must go – plan to stock up! The annual Ice Cream Social will begin at 11 a.m. on the northside of the building, enjoy a variety of homemade desserts and ice cream! Proceeds from these events help fund live performers and programs, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Dial-A-Story and much more!

“I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives” by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda is the next book in the library’s summer Read & Feed book discussion series. The book is slated for discussion on Monday, July 7 at noon. The book is the story of letter that began a correspondence that spanned six years and changed two lives. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.

Sandra Dallas’s latest novel is “Tough Luck.” After their mother’s death, Haidie Richards and her younger brother, Boots, are put in an orphanage. Soon Haidie and Boots make a break and embark on a dangerous journey into western territory to find their father who had gone gold hunting four years earlier. Along the way Haidie learns to handle mules, oxen and greedy men and learns she is better off in a community – hers includes a card shark, independent “spinster” sisters, and a fierce dog. “Tough Luck” is also available on CD and digitally in Libby.

A new young adult book is “Family of Liars” by E. Lockhart.
“Medicine River: a Story of Survival and the Legacy of Indian Boarding Schools” by Mary Annette Pember joins “The Peepshow: the Murders at Rillington Place” by Kate Summerscale, and “Quilting the National Parks: 20 Original Designs Inspired by the Beauty of Our National Parks” by Stephanie Forster on the new non-fiction shelf.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Catty Corner Lands on Her Feet” by Julie Murphy, “Charlie Thorne and the Curse of Cleopatra” by Stuart Gibbs, and “Mouse Scouts” a new series by Sarah Dillard. Newer easy books include “Bluey: the Big Blue Guys Books of Dad Goals” by Penguin Young Reader’s Group, “Mighty: the Story of an Oak Ecosystem” by Henry Cole, “The Big Mess: a Deliciously Funny and Heartwarming Story of Siblings Learning to Get Along” by Justin Whitmel Earley and “I Will Love You Till the Cows Come Home” by Kathryn Cristaldi.
