The library will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Regular hours will resume on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 10 a.m.

Wyoming State Park Day Passes are available to check out! The passes circulate for 7 days and allow you to access State Parks at no cost. Child-sized backpacks are also available for your little explorers – they include binoculars, a magnifying glass and more for your children to learn about our parks. They also check out for 7 days. Stop in and find out more!

“I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives” by Caitlin Alifirenka will be featured on Monday, July 7 at noon for the July Read & Feed selection. For more information stop by the library or call (307) 334-3490.

Sean Gaskell will be performing music of the West Africa kora, a 21-string harp, at the library on Wednesday, July 9 at 1 p.m. The program is suitable for children and adults and you might even have a chance to try the instrument. Plan to take part in this free cultural event.

Mark your calendar for the lively Mr. Kneel performance on Tuesday, July 15 at 2 p.m., Rough & Tumble along with The Honey Badgers on Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m. and Meghan Casey and Rocky Mountain Puppets on Tuesday, July 22 at 1 p.m.

P.T. Deutermann’s latest novel, “The Second Sun” is a taunt, suspenseful historical thriller set in the final months of World War II. The book poses two questions: did Japan have an atomic weapon and did America bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki to pre-empt an attack on its fleet? Deutermann’s long history of naval service contributes to the authenticity of the novel. “The Second Sun” is also available digitally in Libby.

Other new fiction books include “Bad Lands” by Douglas Preston, “Halfway to Hell” by William W. Johnstone, “The Last Sunrise” by Anna Todd, “Nightshade” by Michael Connelly, “Reckoning Day” by Robert Vaughan, and “Hidden Nature” by Nora Roberts. Ben Oliver’s “The Kill Factor” is among new young adult books.

New nonfiction books “The British Are Coming: the War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777” by Rick Atkinson and “Learning the Language of Depression: Overcoming Communication Barriers so People with Depression Are Safe and Understood” by the Depression Project.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Horseback Hardships” by Jake Maddox, “Get Well, Pug” by Kyla May, and “Camp Daze” by Nick Bruel. Some of the newer easy titles are “The Greatest Gift” by Emma Dodd, “Otis and Peanut Find a Way” by Naseem Hrab, “Papilio” by Ben Clanton and “With Love From Daniel” by Patty Michaels.

“Teddy Bears’ Picnic” is the theme for Storyhour on July 8, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
