A special Johnny Appleseed Pajama Storyhour will be held on Wednesday, September 10 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Miss Tina has stories, projects and activities planned for a fun hour of entertainment – pajamas welcome! Storyhour is held regularly on Tuesday mornings from 10-11 a.m.

Paint @ the Library will be held on Wednesday, September 17 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will feature a Stagecoach painting in celebration of Hat Creek’s anniversary. Call the library at (307) 334-3490 to register; children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Niobrara County Library Foundation has Krispy Kreme doughnuts planned pick up on Thursday, September 25 at 7:30 am. A dozen glazed is $12 and mixed frosted are $13. Call the library, contact a foundation member or check with local FBLA members to place your orders!

“Rage” is the title of Linda Castillo’s latest novel. Summer has arrived with a vengeance in Painters Mill with the macabre discovery of a dismembered body. Chief of Police Kate Burkholder has barely begun her investigation when a second body is found. What could these two young Amish men have been involved in that result in such violent ends? “Rage” is available on CD and digitally in Libby.

New nonfiction books are “The Sisterhood of Ravensbruck: How an Intrepid Band of French Women Resisted the Nazis in Hitler’s All Female Concentration Camp” by Lynne Olson and “Bookkeeping For Dummies” by Lita Epstein.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Free Piano (Not Haunted) by Whitney Gardner and “The Morgan Horse” series by Ellen F. Feld. Newer easy books include “Collin’s Castle” by Holly Swain, “The Zombees” by Justin Colon, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Eats Breakfast” by Eric Carle and “The One and Only Ivan – New Friends” by Colin Hosten.

“Care Bear!” is the theme for Storyhour on September 9, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children, stop by the library for more information.

The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-A-Story (307-334-3274) and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library – have you registered your children? If not, go to https://imaginationlibrary.com or stop by the library. Children receive a new book every few weeks until age 5, check it out today.
