Concluding the “Route 66, American Highways” Dinner and Movie series is Bagdad Café on Monday, November 24 at 6 p.m. This 1987 film, also known as Out of Rosenheim, is a German comedy-drama set in a remote truck-stop café and motel in the Mojave Desert in California. The story centers on two women who have recently separated from their husbands, and the friendship that grows between them. The setting of this film, Bagdad, California, is a former town on Route 66, which was abandoned and eventually razed after being bypassed by Interstate 40 in 1973. The film is rated PG and 91 minutes. Library programs are free and open to the public; a meal will be provided.

The library will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 & 28 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours resume on Monday, December 1 at 10 a.m.

The Friends of the Library will host their annual Homemade Cookie, Candy, Soup & Bread sale on Wednesday, December 10 beginning at 3 p.m. at the library. Proceeds benefit Reading is FUN (RIF), Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, live performers and more. Mark your calendar today!

“Circle of Days” is Ken Follett’s latest novel. Joia, a priestess with a vision, watches the midsummer ceremony and dreams of a miraculous new monument – raised from the biggest stones in the world – but trouble is brewing – drought ravages the earth, mistrust grows, and a savage violence leads to open warfare. “Circle of Days” is available digitally in Libby.

“The Great Sioux War Orders of Battle” by Paul L. Hedren and “Heavenly Encounters” edited by Guideposts are among new non-fiction books.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “Prints in the Sand” by Erin Falligant, “How Angel Peterson Got His Name” by Gary Paulsen and “Jasper Rabbit’s Creepy Tales: Troubling Tonsils” by Aaron Reynolds. Newer picture books include “Mia the Masterpiece” by Mia Armstrong, “A Great Fall” by Ame Dyckman, “Field Trip to Dinosaur Valley” by John Hare and “How to Teach Your Monster to Read” by Christianne Jones.

“Happy Thanksgiving!” is the theme for Storyhour on November 25, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
