“The Virginian” is the first book in “Celebrating the Cowboy” book discussion series and will be discussed on Monday, February 4 at 6 p.m. Stop by to register and pick up a copy of the book. Also available is A. S. Mercer’s “The Banditti on the Plains, or, The Cattleman’s Invasion of Wyoming in 1892.” The library is featuring this book as a “Niobrara Reads” – a read and pass-along program. Programs will be featured this spring based on the book.



Michael Ledwidge’s latest novel is “Closing Time.” Michael Gannon was busy supporting his son’s dream of making it in minor league baseball. Then a late-night encounter at a dive bar unwittingly places him as the prime suspect in a convenience store shoot-out. Gannon’s quest to clear his name takes him deep into the middle of a deadly game of power where one wrong move could be his last. “Closing Time” is also available digitally in Hoopla.
Other new fiction books are “The Peralta Country” by Lauran Paine, “Justice Bites” by James Chandler, “The Nameless Land” by Kate Elliott, “Massacre Creek” by Wayne C. Lee, “Quicksilver” by Callie Hart, “White Wolf” by Eric Van Lustbader and “Dead Broke, Colorado” by William W. Johnstone. “The Sun and the Star” by Rick Riordan is among new young adult titles.
New non-fiction titles are “The Undiscovered Country: Triumph, Tragedy, and the Shaping of the American West” by Paul Andrew Hutton and “Nobody’s Girl: a Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting For Justice” by Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Journey of Five” by Jenny Phillips, “Heather and the Highland Pony” by Maggie Taylor and “Dumpster Dive and Dine” by Cam Higgins. Among the newer picture books are “Happy No Snakes Day” by Riley Gaines, “A Monumental Mistake” by Brave Books, “Hank Meets Frank” by Maudie Powell-Tuck, and “Baa Baa Black Belt” by Gavin Aung Than.
“January Jumble!” is the theme for Storyhour on January 13, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
