Leslie Stewart will present “Around the World: Baltic Capitals” on Wednesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. In October 2025 she traveled to the Baltic States, which are Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The trip also included visits to Krakow and Warsaw in Poland and Helsinki, Finland. The presentation will include photos showing the old central squares and the beauty of the architecture, from medieval to very modern. You will hear about the political situation in these countries that are right next to Ukraine and Russia. There will be stories of how the people live now. The Baltics are modern, bustling cities and countrysides that only 35 years ago were part of the USSR. They have retained the best of their heritage while still becoming part of modern Europe.

Rachel Hawkins’ latest novel is entitled “The Storm.” When Geneva Corliss, owner of the Rosalie Inn, hears a true crime writer is coming to town to investigate the town’s infamous murder, she sees a chance to revive the inn’s fortune. When the writer arrives, he brings with him Lo Bailey, the girl who was accused of killing her lover, the political golden boy Landon Fitzroy during Hurricane Marie in 1984. She claims she is ready to clear her name. As summer blazes and another hurricane churns toward the coast, Geneva realizes that some people are as dangerous as the storms that shape the town – and Lo’s secrets may prove the most explosive of all. “The Storm” is available digitally in Libby.
