Stop by the library to pick the March Read and Feed book, “A Girl Called Samson” by Amy Harmon. This is the saga of a young woman who dares to chart her own destiny in life and love during the American Revolutionary War.


The second movie in the “Celebrating the Cowboy” Dinner and Movie series will feature “The Virginian” on Monday, February 23 at 6 p.m. This 1946 version stars Joel McCrea as a local ranch hand who risks losing his best friend and the woman he loves when forced into a showdown with ruthless cattle thieves. When Molly Wood, a well-educated Easterner, arrives in a small Wyoming town to be the new schoolteacher, the Virginian and his best friend, Steve, immediately vie for her affection. Against the warnings of his friend, Steve falls in with the corrupt Trampas’ gang and is caught cattle rustling. The Virginian must choose between their friendship or upholding the severe laws of the West. A light meal will be available and library programs are free and open to the public.

A new novel by Alan Hlad is “A Secret in Tuscany.” In Italy in 1943 Gianna Conti, whose father has been hiding Jewish refugees on their family vineyard, joins the Italian Resistance. There she meets Tazio Napoli, an American working under cover for the Office of Strategic Services. Together they conduct high-risk missions to sabotage German operations. As the Allies steadily gain ground, German forces grow more desperate and Gianna’s fate will rest with her cunning, her resistance, and her willingness to keep hope alive. “A Secret in Tuscany” is also available digitally in Hoopla.

New non-fiction books include “Pink Eraser Art: the Ultimate Guide to Carving Incredible Eraser Stamps” by Serena Rios McRae and “Humor Me: How Laughing More Can Make You Present, Creative, Connected, and Happy” by Chris Duffy.
The Lenna Lewis Children’s Library has these new junior novels “Confessions from the Group Chat” by Jodi Meadows, “Rapunzel and the Sea Witch, or, the Little Mermaid and the Tower” by Kim Bussing and “Young Whit and the Shell Game” by Dave Arnold. New picture books are “I Like Cheese” by Salina Yoon, “Little Red and Big Bad Fred” by Ashley Belote, “The Bakery Dragon and the Fairy Cake” by Devin Elle Kurtz, and “Roar-Choo” by Charlotte Cheng.
“Valentine Bear!” is the theme for Storyhour on February 17, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Children will enjoy thematic stories along with crafts and activities as well as the opportunity to interact with friends. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story.
