Wednesday, March 18 historian Nancy Tabb from Buffalo will share history about “The Banditti of the Plains, or, The Cattlemen’s Invasion of Wyoming in 1892”by A. S. Mercer at 6 p.m. “Banditti of the Plains” was chosen as a Niobrara Reads book and is available to pick up at the library.

Check out packets of heirloom and sustainable seeds for your garden from the Niobrara County Library’s “Heirloom and Sustainable Seed Library.”Seeds are heirloom and open-pollinated which make them suitable for long-term storage and saving for use from year to year. Books about seed saving are also available to check out. Stop by for more information!

“Wild Instinct” is T. Jefferson Parker’s latest novel. Former Marine sniper Lew Gale, now a detective with the Orange County California Sheriff’s Department, is assigned to track and shoot a mountain lion that killed Bennett Tarlow, a rich developer. The investigation takes a chilling turn when Lew and his new partner, Daniela Mendez, discover Bennet was dead before the lion got to him. “Wild Instinct” is available digitally in Libby.

Other new fiction books are “Raw Deal” by Lauran Paine, “The Second Story Bookshop” by Denise Hunter, “Robert B. Parker’s Showdown” by Mike Lupica, “Evil Bones” by Kathy Reichs, “Heat Lightning” By William W. Johnstone, “Forever in Alaska” by Belle Calhoune and “The Guns of Fort Griffin” by James J. Griffin. “The Aftermyth” by Tracy Wolff is now available in the young adult section.

Among the newer non-fiction books is “The Montana Stranglers in Dakota Territory” by Ron N. Berget. This title is also available in Libby.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “The Snowman Code” by Simon Stephenson and “Dragon Pet” by Ari Avatar. New easy titles are “There’s a Shark in the Park” by Nicole Johnson, “100 Days” by Alexandra Penfold, and “Crouton: One Cat’s Adoption Tale” by Kristine A. Lombardi.

“Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on March 17, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
