The library will be closed Monday, May 26, 2025 for Memorial Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

 Stop by the library to register for summer reading – this goal-based program is for all ages, even adults! There are many fun activities and programs planned for the summer, with events beginning Tuesday, May 27 – some do require registration.

On Tuesday, June 3 at 1 p.m. join Aaron Fowler and his classroom therapy dog Kuumba in an exciting program of music and stories, and a little bit of dancing that is sure to brighten your day and lift your spirits. There will be plenty of dog kisses and petting for those that want to greet Kuumba!  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The library will host a Read & Feed series this summer. The first book, “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman is available to pick up for the Monday, June 9 noon discussion.

Nancy Thayer’s newest novel is “Summer Light on Nantucket.” Blythe Benedict, a divorced middle school teacher in Boston raising four children, is looking forward to spending time in Nantucket, but this summer’s getaway proves to be more than she bargained for. She must contend with teenage angst, her ex-mother-in-law’s declining health and a troubling secret involving her ex-husband. To top it off her reconnection with her high school sweetheart is complicated when another intriguing man enters the picture. “Summer Light on Nantucket” is also available in Libby.

Other new fiction books include “Desperately Seeking a Duchess” by Christi Caldwell, “The Long Search” by Hunter Ingram, “One Dangerous Night” by Cathy Maxwell, “In the Gray Zone” by Brad Taylor, “Sunbringer” by Hannah Kaner, “Dr. No” by Percival Everett, “The Vanishing Kind” by Alice Henderson and “Curse of Dead Man’s Gold” by Bradford Scott. “Rebel Witch” by Kristen Ciccarelli is among new young adult titles.

New nonfiction books include “A Better Ending: a Brother’s Twenty-Year Quest to Uncover the Truth About His Sister’s Death” by James Thomson, “The Wyoming Try” by Tami Watts and “Design Then Quilt: a Dynamic Guide to Creating Stunning Modern Quilts” by Irene Roderick.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Big Nate: Attack of Cheez Funk Breath” by Lincoln Peirce and “The Smallest Kitten” by Holly Webb. A few of the newer easy books are “To See an Owl” by Matthew Cordell, “Slow Start” by Julie Crump and “The Bear, the Book, and the Blanket” by Lou Peacock.

“National Airplane Paper Plane Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on May 27, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
