The Niobrara County Library Foundation is rapidly reaching the deadline for meeting their 250K by 2025 Endowment Challenge with just over $36,000 to raise. Endowment is a permanent fund where the principal is never spent.  Earnings of the fund are interest, dividends and market gains and/or losses. Direct earnings to the organization are a portion of the total annual earnings of the fund. An endowment is not a reserve or “rainy day” account. This current fiscal year $102,000 from endowment was granted to the Niobrara County Library for operations, additional funds will be used for direct purchases of physical and digital materials. Earnings have recently replaced the roof-top HVAC system. Endowment has made a tremendous impact on how our library can provide for our community. Your donations are truly appreciated.

You can check out ebooks, digital audio, music, magazines, movies, television shows and much more. The library purchases for Libby, please contact us if you are not finding what you like.

Brian Freeman’s latest novel is “Photograph.” Private investigator Shannon Wells receives a client with a strange request – find out who I really am. Now the woman is dead and the only clue to who she was and why she was murdered is an old photograph of a little girl.  The hunt for answers takes Shannon from Florida to rural Michigan as she peels away layers of a shocking cold case that has rippled violently into the present. “Photograph” is available digitally in Libby.

Armentrout, “Fringe” by Michael Frederick, “The Portrait” by Danielle Steel and “Remain” by Nicholas Sparks. “War Games” by Alan Gratz is among new young adult books.

New non-fiction titles are “Rosebud, June 17, 1876: Prelude to the Little Big Horn” by Paul L. Hedren and “Dementia Doesn’t Come with Instructions Until Now” by Marcia A. Steele.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “Summer Gets to Work” by Clare Hutton, “Heroes by a Hair” by Jarrett Pumphrey, and “Worst Wish Ever” by Wanda Coven. New easy books include “Milo the Doctor” by Mei Nakamura, “Some Bunny Loves You” by Helen Foster James, “Pip’s Selfish Sip” by Brave Books and “The Never-Give-Up Pup” by Lara Trump.

“Feathers!” is the theme for Storyhour on November 18, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
