The library will be closed Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26 for Christmas and will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31 through Thursday, January 1 for the New Year. We wish everyone the happiest of holidays!

The winter afterschool program series, “America the Beautiful” will run from January 6, 2026 through February 24 for grades K-2 and January 8 through February 26 for grades 3-6. Both programs will focus on some of the iconic symbols of the United States as well as landmarks and national parks – celebrating what made our country unique and how it continues to move forward after almost 250 years.  There will be crafts and fun for all.  Join Miss Tina on Tuesdays and Miss Barb on Thursdays from 3:35 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Niobrara County Library! Christopher Reich’s latest novel is “The Tourists.” Retired Special Agent Mac Dekker travels to Paris to propose to Ava Attal, once Mossad’s deadliest operative. Before he can propose, Ava disappears. Mac launches a frantic search, and as his CIA training kicks in along with his instincts, he wonders — is Ava truly missing or is she on a mission even more secret than his own?

Other new fiction books are “With Each Tomorrow” by Tracie Peterson, “The Pride of Texas” by Dusty Richards, “How to Survive a Horror Story” by Mallory Arnold, “False Witness” by Phillip Margolin, “Sunset” by Sharon Sala, “The Master Executioner” by Loren D. Estleman, and the “Invisible Library” series by Genevieve Cogman. “Codebreaker” by Jay Martel is among new young adult books.

New non-fiction titles are “Lost on Route 66: Tales from the Mother Road” edited by Katelyn Bohl and “The Young Earth: the Real History of the Earth, Past, Present, and Future” by John Morris.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Boy, the Mountain, and the Serpent Who Ate the Moon” by Caris Avendano Cruz, “Partypooper” by Jeff Kinney and “Timothy of the 10th Floor” by Jenny Phillips. Some of the newer picture books are “The Last Zookeeper” by Aaron Becker, “The Blame Game” by Brave Books, “I Spy A to Z: a Book of Picture Riddles” by Jean Marzollo and “Don’t Trust Fish” by Neil Sharpson.

“Happy New Year!” is the theme for Storyhour on December 31, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
