Library News

The library will be closed on Monday, January 19 in honor of Martin Luther King and Wyoming Equality Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday.

The first film in “Celebrating the Cowboy” Dinner & Movie series is “Red River” on Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m. No matter what genre he worked in, Howard Hawks played by his own rules, and never was this more evident than in his first western, the rowdy and whip-smart “Red River.” In it, John Wayne found one of his greatest roles, as an embittered, tyrannical Texas rancher whose tensions with his independent-minded adopted son (Montgomery Clift) reach epic proportions during a cattle drive to Missouri. The unerringly macho Wayne and the neurotic, boyish Clift make for an improbably perfect pair, held aloft by a quick-witted, multilayered screenplay and Hawks’s formidable direction. A light meal will be available; library programs are free and open to the public.

2026 Wyoming State Park Day-Passes are now available to check out at the library – use these passes at State Parks and State Historical Sites! Stop in to find out more.

“Bodies of Proof” is one of James Chandler’s latest novels, co-written with Laura Snider. Marko Bauer and Allee Smith thought defending James Innis on a simple charge would be straightforward. Then, when he confesses to a murder, it’s clear that this case will be anything but easy. Bound by law, they can’t expose him even when he leads them to the body. As they search for a way out of their ethical trap, Innis’s chilling arrogance shows them just how dangerous he truly is. “Bodies of Proof” is also available in Libby and Hoopla.

Other new fiction books are “Long Ride to Buffalo” by Robert Vaughan, “Sudden Country” by Loren D. Estleman, “Brimstone” by Callie Hart, “The Christian Social Club Adventure” by John Paul Emmanuel, “Death on Wolf Fell” by Nick Oldham and “The Birdwatcher” by Jacquelyn Mitchard.
