SUMMER READING AND PROGRAMS

Unearth a Story is the theme for summer reading and children’s programming this year at the Niobrara County Library.

Summer reading programs are designed to encourage children to keep reading during summer vacation, and helping to prevent the “summer slide” continues to be the main objective of the library’s reading program. The benefits of library summer reading programming for children include motivation, maintaining and growing reading skills and getting to know their library.

Stop in the library after May 18 to set your reading goals and check out your library books for the Unearth a Story. The tracking week ends each Friday beginning May 29 and continues through July 31. When a goal is met for two weeks, a certificate for swimming or a treat will be awarded. At the conclusion of the 10-week program, children who have completed their reading goals each week will be eligible for additional prizes.

The Summer Reading Program is available to young adult and adult participants as well!
