The Dinner and Movie series, “Images of Walking” will feature “The Way” on Monday, October 26 at 6 p.m. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to collect the remains of his adult son killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage to honor his son’s desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn’t plan on is the profound impact the journey will have on him and his “California Bubble Life.” Inexperienced as a trekker, Tom soon discovers that he will not be alone on this journey. On his journey, Tom meets other pilgrims from around the world, each with their own issues and looking for greater meaning in their lives. This film is PG-13 and 123 minutes and a light meal will be included, Deane Tucker, PhD., Chadron State College will lead the discussion.
Friction is Sandra Brown’s newest novel. Four years ago when his wife died, Texas Ranger Crawford Hunt fell into a downward spiral and his wife’s parents were given custody of their five year old daughter, Georgia. Now his chance of getting her back rests with Judge Holly Spencer, who is running for election and whose every decision is high stakes. When a masked gunman barges into the courtroom Crawford saves the Judge from a bullet, but the man gets away – pursing the culprit in his usual diehard fashion could jeopardize his custody suit and compromise Holly – decisions need to be made carefully is this very personal pursuit.
