New Elevator to Be Erected Here Soon
A new and larger elevator will be constructed here for the Lusk Elevator by the Tri-State Milling Co., the new owners, it was announced this week.
The new elevator, which will be built just west of the present Lusk Elevator, will have a capacity of 27,000 bushels. The present elevator has a capacity of 9,000 bushels. The present elevator will be left just as is. The new structure will be built by the Ibberson Construction Co. of Minneapolis, Minn. and the lumber for the building has started to arrive. The building will be built primarily of 2 x 6 pine with the boards placed one on top of the other, giving the building a 6" solid thick wall. This type of building is known as crib building.
According to C.E. "Blondie" Marvin, the new elevator is expected to be finished in time for the harvest this fall. It is also expected that the new structure will help alleviate the shortage of storage space which the Lusk Elevator has had at certain times in the past few years.

New Lusk Elevator Completed Just in Time for Big Yield
The need of the new elevator at Lusk has certainly been proven the past two weeks with a record flow of grain into Lusk. The Lusk Elevator Company's new 36,000 bushel elevator will likely by completed this week, but is already in use with with 20,000 bushels stored in it.
Manager C.E. Marvin said this week that three carloads of grain have already been shipped out of the the old 9,000 bushel elevator.
Grain yields are from 12 to 30 bushels to the acre with the recent hot, dry weather cutting the yield of same grain. Much spring wheat remains yet to be harvested, and still greater quantities of the larger operators is being held under government loan.
