Lusk Established As P.I.E. Refueling Stop

Pacific Intermountain Express truck line has established Lusk as a refueling stop. It is estimated that between 30 and 40 semi-trucks will be fueled in Lusk during each 24 hour period.

There will be two drivers per truck and the trucks will ordinarily stop between 15 minutes and one hour. There will be longer stops on some occasions.

The trucks will be fueled with diesel fuel at Bixler's Conoco station at the corner of Third and Main Streets in Lusk. The station is now operating on a 24-hour schedule. In order that the drivers may have an opportunity to eat during the stop. The Diner, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Panno, will remain open 24 hours per day. The Diner started operating on a 24 hour schedule Tuesday.

Some changes in the physical arrangement at Bixler's station,  now operated by Bill Davis, have been made and additional changes will be made in the near future. A large diesel tank has been buried and a pump erected in the rear of the station. It is soon planned to move the office building on the south of the station so that trucks may come in from one direction and go out with out turning around.
