Water Softener Industry in Lusk is Being Developed

A new industry is starting in Lusk with the introduction this week of water softeners by the Continental Conditioner Co. which has been established by Ed Hollon.

Tanks for the system will be constructed by Western Repair Shop and assembly completed by Continental.

Mr. Hollon, who is in business with his brother, Jerry, in the Frontier Lumber Co., has spent the last nine months working on the new enterprise. Clack Water Treatment of Madison, Wisc., a manufacturer of water softener parts, has assisted with the engineering and will supply some of the parts to the Lusk concern.

While the new product is being offered first in Lusk, Mr. Hollon believes that the real opportunity lies in many other areas not yet served by any waster softening system.

Although soft water has not been used extensively in Lusk, local plumbers have had systems available, and some outside concerns have offered systems here. Mr. Hollon says the best salespeople he has are those who already have soft water here or had it prior to moving here.

The general principles of water softening are well established, and component parts for assembling are readily available. One of the local advantages is the availability of Western Repair to fabricate the tanks thus saving high freight charges.

The new company has secured considerable art work for promotion of the system. An attractive three-color decal will be used on the systems as well as in the promotion.

The system will carry an absolute guarantee of satisfaction as a ten-year guarantee.

MODELS ON DISPLAY

The five models of softeners being offered by Continental Conditioner Co. are now on display in The Lusk Herald window. The models range in price from $89 to $298.

Members of the Lusk Chamber of Commerce who have been working steadily at getting some industry into Lusk, have high hopes that the Continental softener will prove to be popular.

Since World War II the water softening industry has grown with great speed, but there still is a vast segment of American homes that are without soft water.
