Phone Co. Buys Fowler Property

The new Mountain States Telephone building will be built on the property owned by Miss Alice Fowler. 

The sales agreement between the Company and Miss Fowler was signed last Wednesday afternoon. It is not yet known when construction on the new building will begin. However, it has tentatively announced that the Lusk exchange will convert to dial in late 1965 and it is thought that the building will be finished well in advance of the date.

The property is located on Main Street directly north of Gautschi's Standard Service.

No plans have yet been announced for disposing of the present telephone building.

New Telephone Building Will Be Constructed in Lusk

The Mountain States Telephone Co. has announced plans to build a new building in Lusk.

It is not yet known when construction will start but tentative plans call for the Lusk exchange to be converted to dial system in the next few years and the building must be completed before the conversion.

At The Herald's press time Wednesday afternoon papers had not yet been signed for the real estate purchase.

The building, will be larger than the present structure, and will house much more equipment. When the conversion to dial is made no local operators will be utilized. At the present time 15 women are employed asoperators. When the conversion is made one woman and three men will be employed at Lusk. When O, or operator is dialed, a Casper operator will answer.

A special Lusk Town Council meeting was held Monday evening to consider the problem that the conversion will bring. No longer will an operator be available to handle police and fire calls. No final arrangements have been made.
