Wasserburgers Buy Lusk Livestock Commission C. from Joe Madden
Last Thursday a business transaction was closed whereby Harry and Martin Wasserburger of Harrison, Nebr., under the corporate name of Wasserburger, Inc., purchased the Lusk Livestock Commission Co. from Joe Madden.
The new owners have previously had an interest in the business. In March 1949 the Wasserburger brothers with Mr. Madden as a partner purchased the business, then called Lusk Sales Pavilion, from Thos. F. Kennelly. In June 1958 Mr. Madden purchased Wasserburgers' interest. In addition to the Lusk Livestock Commission Co., the Wasserburger brothers operated the Sioux County Livestock Auction at Harrison, and John Federele, a son-in-law, and Miss Millie Wasserburger, daughter of Harry, operated the Douglas Livestock Exchange.
Sales at Douglas are on Mondays and sales at Harrison on Wednesdays. Wasserburgers plan to continue to hold sales in Lusk on Tuesdays.
The initial sale under the new management will likely be held in early August. As yet details, such as arranging for licenses are holding up scheduling of the first sale.
Mr. Madden's plans are indefinite. He has also owned and operated the Wheatland Livestock Commission Co.
