Tuesday, August 7 a dedication of the statue, “Buddies” will be held on the library lawn from 1 to 3 p.m. The statue, in memory of Andrew Hammond, portrays him as a young boy who was often seen with his pony, Little Joe, in tow. Andrew tried to be certain that he brought a smile to someone everyday and it is the hope that this statue will continue his legacy as well as culturally enrich the community.

Jane DeDecker, of DeDecker Studio in Loveland, Colorado was commissioned to create the art piece and will be on hand during the dedication to share the process of building the bronze statue.

The Niobrara County Library Foundation, Inc. received memorial funding for this lasting project. For more information about DeDecker Studio visit www.janededecker.com.
