The final film in the “Play to Film” series is The Great Gatsby. This F. Scott Fitzgerald masterpiece is a story that could only have taken place in the Jazz Age: an era in which recklessness with money, liquor, women, and fast cars pervaded the American consciousness. Dashing, enigmatic millionaire Jay Gatsby (Robert Redford) is obsessed with the elusive and spoiled Daisy Buchanan (Mia Farrow). This elegant story was brought to the screen with a meticulous concern for language, time, and place.

This classic film, rated PG, lasts 146 minutes. A light meal will be a part of the evening and Deane Tucker, PhD, will facilitate the discussion.
