The Niobrara County Library is pleased to present a dinner and movie series beginning Monday, August 31 at 6 p.m. Images of Walking features four films that depict a life-changing journey made by foot.

The first film, “The Way Back” tells the story of three men that have walked 4000 miles after escaping a Siberian gulag; four others also escape with them and a teenage girl joins them in flight. The group’s natural leader is Janusz, a Pole condemned by accusations secured by torturing his wife; he knows how to live in the wilds. Together a cynical American, a Russian thug, a comic accountant, a pastry chef who draws, a priest, and a Pole with night blindness escape under cover of a snowstorm. They face freezing nights, lack of food and water, mosquitoes, an endless desert, the Himalayas, and moral questions of when to leave someone behind.

This movie is rated PG-13 and is 113 minutes. A light meal will be included and Deane Tucker, PhD., Chadron State College will lead the discussions which may include participants from WWC.

Niobrara County Library programs are free and open to the public.
